This year the world celebrates the 50th Anniversary of man’s first steps on the moon! What better way to celebrate than a trip to Space Center Houston, Johnson Space Center and Mission Control! There will be special exhibits on display to celebrate this milestone in mankind’s history. Mission Control has been restored to again reflect the way it looked during the Apollo 11 mission. Hosted by the USS Zavala, the Region 3 Starfleet Day at Space Center Houston will be extra special this year because of the 50th Anniversary. Start making your plans to be part of the celebration by joining us on Saturday, September 14, 2019.
The Region will do a pre-paid advance group ticket purchase to reduce your cost to attend. With fees included, your total is $18 per ticket (regardless of age). This requires a minimum 15 ticket purchase so please get your payment submitted by the deadline. Payment MUST be received no later than Tuesday, September 3, 2019. There are no refunds for this type of advance group sale purchase. Following our day at Space Center Houston, we will convene for supper at 6:00 pm (we know you’ll be starving by then after the day of activity) at Victor’s American Diner and Deli, 1425 NASA Parkway (literally next door to SCH).
Space Center Houston opens for visitors at 10:00 am. Parking is $5.00 after 9:00 am. We will gather in the parking lot prior to opening to distribute tickets at 9:30 am. We will convene at precisely 10:30 am for a group photo inside. Dress casually for your busy day at SCH (Region or chapter shirts or any Star Trek themed shirt) and bring your uniform to change into for supper (another group photo op).
The designated motel for this event is the Days Inn & Suites, 201 N. Texas Ave., Webster, TX 77598. There are more Double rooms on the second floor and we are advised to select a second floor room for best placement, but be aware there is no elevator. They do have handicapped accessible rooms on the first floor. The Days Inn has recently undergone a complete renovation. It offers free breakfast, a mini-fridge and microwave in each room, an indoor pool (bring your suit!), and free WIFI. You can cancel as late as 24 hours in advance without being charged. Check in is 3:00 pm with checkout at 11:00 am. There are other near-by options in case you have points you can use for a free or reduced room, or you prefer something a little more up-scale. Nearby are Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn &; Suites, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and SpringHill Suites/Marriott.
