History of M-1845b, a.k.a. New San Antonio

M-1845b/New San Antonio

27 Jan, 2118/205328.87 –  United Earth Space Probe Agency probe observes an exoplanet in the 1845 system. Designated TX-1845b at that time. Only remarkable feature known at that time is that the entire TX-1845 system is further south of the galactic ecliptic than most systems with planets.

5 Feb, 2323/00095.92 – Starfleet observational antennas classify TX-1845b as an M-class planet, and observed that it had at least one moon, and two rings. No dubbed M-1845b. Doctor E. Thomas, a native of Texas on Earth, took note of the original designation, and then dubbed the planet “ New San Antonio”, inputting that name into the database. Given that the system was so far off ‘the beaten path’ of the galactic plane, no one noticed, and no further studies were ordered of it for many years.

21 Feb, 2403/80139.77 – USS Crockett, 3rd Fleet, assigned to survey the area containing M-1845, as part of defining borders and travel ways near the galactic southern edges of Klingon space. It is known that the Klingon Empire are doing the same – and often there has been amicable coordination on these sorts of missions.

However, on arrival in the M-1845 system, USS Crockett discovers that ‘New San Antonio’ is, for lack of a better word, a paradise planet. Unusually warm, with a plethora of features to enjoy, and a welcoming atmosphere, the Crockett transmits these initial scans to Starfleet HQ. Third Fleet is then directed to assign suitable assets to explore, and protect this new resource.
